Are sony's MDR-V6 the same thing as the MDR-V600? If not, how do they stack up against each other?
Are these the best closed headphones under 80 bucks? If not, could you name a few? I'm looking mostly for imaging and deep bass response.

No they are not the same thing.
Everyone that has heard both have said the same thing:
V6 = good
V600 = bad

v6 or sennheiser hd280 pro for under $80


the 280 pro has better soundstage.

The reason people on this board find the V600 worse than the V6 is because the former bloats up the bass and treble for DJ's while the latter needs to keep all frequencies stable for studio monitoring.

I think; 'm not sure.

Nope, the first picture is the 7505. The 7506 and the V6 are identical.

Yep, V6 and 7506 are the same. The difference is that the 7506 has some user replaceable parts, V6 doesn't. Both are better than the V-600 for sure...

Actually, they're identical in that respect, too, elambo. The only differences in the two models are that the 7506 has a gold-colored miniplug whereas the V6 has a silver-colored one. Oh, and the sticker on the side

kenchi, I haven't found them in the city, but all the Fry's have them. The closest Fry's in Palo Alto off El Camino and Frontage.
