Equipment used:
Behringer Ultra-Curve 8024 equaliser under PC control
Soundcraft Spirit SX mixer
Behringer MX2004A mixer
Sony CDP-XE570 CD
and of course MDR-7509 and MDR-7506.

CDP-XE570->
Spirit SX (Aux Out)->8024->MX2004A(Stereo In)->MDR-7509
Spirit SX (phone out)-> MDR-7506

I re-plotted the response plots posted by j-curve in an Excel spreadsheet for the MDR-7506 and the MDR-Z700DJ.

Why did I choose the Z700DJ? The V700DJ's are sold as Z700DJ's in Japan. The 7509 (definitely) and the V900 (as far as I know) sound extremely similar to the V700's. That's why I chose the Z700 plot.

I checked the plots by graphing them. Then I created a mimic curve by subtracting the Z700 plot from the 7506.
Control check was made by comparing the output from the EQ-ing path (with the EQ in bypass mode) with the phone output of the Soundcraft mixer using hte MDR-7506 only.
Since the 8024 doesn't suffer from the EQ spillover problem, if you're familiar with stuff like that, I was able to directly input the resulting settings from the Excel spreadsheet.
The result was that I didn't even get close to the fairly accurate caricature of the 7506 I got by manually ramping down the upper bass and and boosting the upper mids to treble (which is nothing like the settings suggested).
Erm, that's it. Thought it might interest some people. Of course this evaluation is using my ears only.
