That's why you are not hearing much from us

Thought that may have been the case lol.  Good to hear !

I ma digging them a lot!
I have never heard the TH900 so I cannot express an opinion against those but I have had several closed headphones like Edition 9, D5000, D7000, DX1000, ATH W11JPN, AD and currently a highly modded AP, D2000 and W3000ANV. I will also include the sim-closed T1. From all those IMO the MHP1000 are hands down the best.
They provide a deep, fast and well controlled bass. Maybe not for a basshead but just because it  is not exaggerated. The mid range is very natural and the highs are very crisp, clean and detailed not causing me any fatigue. To me the most surprising elements of these headphones to me are the transparency of the sound, the level of detail and the size of their soundstage for a close headphones.

Clearly the first pair I got had an issue because they did not have the magical sound this pair has. Fortunately my dealer came through and replace them with a fresh new pair. Even that their Beyerdynamic heritage is obvious their sound performance IMO is clearly higher than any Beyerdynamic I have heard.

Thanks for further impressions musicman59,  these are definitely on my future hit list.

Looks as though the MHP1000 is a probable finalist for a replacement headphone for my Asus® CM1630 as upgraded.  Apparently, to satisfy McIntosh Laboratory's exacting sonic standards, the beyerdynamic® engineers have outdone themselves (and the pre-existing DT 770 PRO and DT 880 PRO are known to be favorites for audio engineers) integrating the Tesla transducer technology to an earcup design like nothing in the DT lineup.

Forgive me but as a DX1000 owner, I have to ask how you think they might compare.

I am not a bass head so IMO the DX1000 had beautiful midrange but the bass sometimes overpowered the rest of the frequencies.
IMO the DX1000 had a colored sound while the MHP1000 is very transparent. This could be good or bad depending on your source and recordings.

Congratulations! You will enjoy them.
No, the driver is not angled so there is not variance in the sound depending on the position of the cups in your head like with the T1.

I really love these headphones. It is hard to take them off your head once you get into a listening session. It's like having a magnifying glass on your recordings and gear....but in a good way, not a "bright' way.

I'm surprised Jude has not chimed in on these yet.

I don't think he has listened to them. I crossed messages with him and he mentioned wanting to listen to them. Maybe on the week of 12/29 when I come back form my trip I can get together with him.

Great to see that you both are still enjoying them.

Beagle if you don't mind me asking how they compare to your TH-900 (assuming you still own them)

I would imagine that they may share some qualities.

The TH-900 is warmer sounding, probably due to a slight sag in the midrange. The MHP1000 is more detailed, to my ears.

What kind of music you hear with the MHP1000?
I hear a lot Pro Rock & Metal.

I listen to Pop, Rock, Jazz, New Age, some Blue Grass and some Classical. No Electronic (other than the latest Daft Punk) and no Metal.

Out of my collection the MHP1000 is a close second in detail to the SR009. The rest are behind him including my beloved recabled HD800.
