So Marvin Isley died a couple of days ago. And NO ONE on this formerly great site has mentioned this? Curious to see what kind if response, if any, I get to that sentence.

RIP Marvin. I know that you will continue to fight the power.

Much respect,
JKM

Always sad to hear that people go.
I know he helped bring the sound of the band into a new era.

Oddly there is a television ad that has an Isley brother songs that just came on as I was typing this.

No. Personal pleasure.

I can't think of a better reason.

Sadly, I just read today of the death of another funk/rock great. Gary Shider, guitarist for the legendary P-Funk, died recently of cancer. Like Marvin Isley, he was only in his fifties. As I stare at my own upcoming fiftieth birthday, I'm starting to understand the meaning of the old saying, "Life is short." I've always thought of that as a cliche. These days it seems less of a cliche and more of a grim truth.
