Well my pocket book took a big hit, but I had to make the leap at some point. I got the Marantz in the mail just the other day. It is soon in the listening cycle, but I have been amazed by it with every disk that I have dropped into it. Every reference disk (CD/SACD) has sounded better than ever. The detail and power of each note is much improved over my modded Denon. This is the first digital source that comes close to the analog. I was first running with my RCA AudioQuest Sky's, and it sounded great, but I was wanting a little bit. In looking at the manual, I saw that the output voltage goes from 2.5V unbalanced to 5V balanced. So I plugged in my old set of AudioQuest Crystal XLR's and WOW much better.....

. I will upgrade these soon, but I am having a lot of fun.

high recommendation:

That system is just...wow! And then wow again! It inspires inspiration! So when's the meet at your place so us Bay Area folk can listen?

Those AudioQuest ICs must be really good too, I can't even find any info on them. All their great ICs seem to be discontinued and figments of the past.

Congrats, the Marantz SA-7S1 is a great stock player. I had mine modified. Takes a great player and makes it world-class.
