Two weeks back i bought my self an ol' Marantz receiver and the model is SR-73. it sounds pretty good and it has a very good FM Tuner. but problem is i can't memorise the stations. Once i memorise them and power the amp off... it loses all its memory. Is there anything like a motherboard battery inside which needs replacement?

If it can't retain presets then there is definitely an issue but I don't know enough about receivers to help narrow the issue down :/

It's probably worth a look inside the chassis to see if there's a battery like a CR2032 on the mobo. The battery should be labeled. They can be bought on the cheap from amazon.

Hmm, well if it's older perhaps that's how it was designed. Do you unplug it regularly? I couldn't imagine needing to move it very often

Good idea, I forgot engineers put those in. Worth a try for sure

Thank you everyone for all your help. This morning i had time to open it up and look for a battery. Unfortunately i didn't find any. The only place i have not looked inside is the front panel. I didn't want to remove anything because i am afraid i'd kill it. So i thought i'd leave it as it is.... :)

I don't think it has a battery, I believe back when it was made people just left them on standby, and not switch the unit off completely.

A kind of miracle just happened and my marantz receiver suddenly started remembering stations and settings even if the power cord is completely disconnected from the main power outlet. I really don't know how it got fixed but something cured it's amnesia. :)), These are the strange things that happened and one of these three things have cured it. Now it remembers the stations and i am super happy.

#1. Two days back my wife was meddling with the Marantz Receiver wanting to connect her iPhone via bluetooth. I was such a big lazy ass i didn't want to get off my chair and do it for her so i was instructing her and she was messing around until it started to work with bluetooth.

#2. I moved the whole sound system from my tv room to living room today.

#3. Since the new location doesn't have many sources to power, i figured out the power port in the back of the marantz receiver which miraculously compatible with the Sony Ericcson phone charger adaptor which powers the Ugreen bluetooth receiver. So it's much neater now.

One of above three things have fixed it. Maybe it there was something wrong in the circuit and chips because it wasn't been used for so many years. Since i started using it quiet often since the day i bought for last few months, the memory might have started to work. Thinking of a battery inside which got charged is impossible.

I decided to post this because these information might be useful for someone who is having the same problem as i do in the future.
