I have already built a standard CMoy. I love it. I was asked to build one by my audiophile uncle for his system after he listened to the one I built for my Senn 580's. He wants it to sound the best it possibly can, and since he will be paying for it the cost of the parts shouldn't matter too much. He doesn't have headphones yet, but I think he is leaning twards Grados.

I will make the power supply buffered either by using the Texas Instruments' TLE2426 or th Burr-Brown's BUF634 with resitor pair. I will also use the Vishay 1/8 precision resistors. I think i will use larger caps 470uf for the electrolytics and 10 uf for the signal. Any suggestions as to which brands? Would using Black Gates or Elna Cerafines make a difference? Or should I just use Panasonics? For the signal caps i'm not sure which brand to use either...

Any other suggestions or ideas? Thanks.

use the TLE2426 to split the power line, then you can buffer it with a BUF634 for the best quality line, the TLE only puts abou 25mA or so, the BUF634 puts up a couple hundred I think, more than enough anyway!

I wouldn't put an electrolytic in the signal path HOWEVER good it is ie Black Gate. It's worth using ELNA Cerafines or Stargets for the power caps, try 2 470uF's for each side of the power supply to give 940uF for each rail.

However, if you want the very best, try the META42. The CMoy is great don't get me wrong and I use one for portable use, but I prefer the META for long listening!

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will stick with 2 electrolytic caps for now. I was thinking of using 1.0 uf Solen Fast caps for the signal.

Anyone in NYC know of any suppliers of this things in the city?
