Hi head-fiers!

I plan to "batterize" my amp.. I'm relatively inexperient in DIY, I do own an iron (used it twice, destroying a perfectly good mouse in one of the times)

So I'm a bit afraid of messing with my amp.... I would train my soldering skills before opening such a toy, of course!

I'm wondering.. Can I improve the sound quality, using battery power? I 've been reading about batteries, and NiMH or acid-lead seem to do the job.. (is the internal resistance low enough?)
The plan is to put everything in a backpack. So, +-4 Kg (+-8lb) to get +-15v 2Ah is OK with me.. The absolute run time is not a big problem if it is something like 2-4 hours. (current consuption seems to be around 100mA)

About the charger-- (I dont mind to have only a tricle charger and let it charge during the night.) My question is: If I use the voltage regulator inside the ha1-mkII, can I avoid building a charger? Can I make something simple, like connecting a battery pack plus a switch to change in to charge and mains mode, somewhere inside the amp?? Or, If I use a regulated power source that i have lying around, can I add something simple as a resistor to make a trickle charger? Would the lead-acid batteries be better in this aspect? They are bettre in the internal resistance issue, right?

The amp uses +-15v, Can I use -+18v?? lead-acids seem to appear as multiples of 6v..

Hope my first post isn't too full of questions..

I think youre crazy but i did built a 3*9V battery pack ~24V for the Porta Corda. It did sound better than the 19V power supply but it drained like crazy too.

cant help any of your question. good luck anyway

Yes, probably I'm crazy.. But I'm curious also (even if I just end learning more about simple circuits)

If I can understand how to setup a convenient charging method (like plugging it to mains, and flipping a switch), drain is not problematic.
