Hi,

I've recently come to the conclusion that most available PORTABLE iPod speakers are crap! So i've decided to make my own, but i don't know how

There are a few things i'd like the speakers to be able to do

-Good SQ, not perfect, just good.
-Battery operated for more volume
- They need to be somewhat portable

Does anyone know if there are builds online for such a thing? I coulden't find any. Or can anyone give me some pointers in the right direction?

Regards,

Rinke

I've thought about doing the same thing. This is how I was thinking of doing it:

1 Hacking up a docking station and fitting it in a small plastic enclosure. With this you can grab the line out and be able to charge it to.

2 Using a small amplifier kit (you can buy them for about $30 [5W x 2]) go fromt the line out to the amp to small full range speakers (1.5-2" or so).

3 Most of the amps require 12V to run on so I'm not sure how portability would work out...I was planning on a wallwart PS. Maybe a smaller amp (opamp) and a few C batteries would work.

Just some thoughts. If you think of improvments let me know. I don't know when or if I'll do this.

Good luck

12 x 18 x 10 @ about 30#'s...What makes it portable, because it has a handle?

It looks pretty cool though...maybe for home use.
