I'm planning on buying a DAC/Amp. Would the Schiit Magni/Modi be good for the HE-400s?

yes. modi/magni is good for HE 400. However, if you have a budget, you can consider buying Audio GD 15.32 instead of modi/magni stack. Audio GD 15.32 can drive wide range of cans.
if you go for audio gd 15.32, remember to order tcxo upgrade.

I read somewhere that Magni/Modi might be a bit bright to be paired with HE-400, YMMV though.
