Magic: The Gathering

So I played again this past weekend with some friends and faced a rather annoying deck.

It was a control deck with Arcane Laboratory, which is combo'd with Isochron Scepter/Counterspell. Throw in a Limited Resources + Isochron Scepter/Boomerang... It took him 3 turns to set up the combo (he drew very well against me).

First turn Limited Resources, second turn Isochron+Counterspell, third turn Arcane Laboratory. After this, he can just sit back and relax because he has the game on lock.

FYI, I play black/red. Only thing that could have stopped him was a shatter, and I didn't have one.

We have a Magic thread?? Awesome!

I have Dragonstorm, Affinity (when I'm in a hurry), UR combo, and UB control. Zendikar looks interesting. although my last booster was from Lorwyn...

Day one was sealdeck, day two booster draft. First day I have 2 byes for Pro Players club(thnaks to last year nationals) and I finished 8-1 with UG. Second day, first draft again UG and 3-0 record. Second draft RB and 1-2(one loose to my mistake). It was with MAgic 2010.

First day UG as quite brutal, Overun mind control, Air elemental, two trols with regeneration and negate with remove soul. First draft Ug was also quite nice, two Overuns, two air elemental, but unlucky I must use some worse creeatures like Leopard.

I don't play magic myself and I find it pretty funny that my friend still plays at the age of 28 .
He told me awhile back that he had bought some card on ebay for ~300$ and I found that simply ridiculous but I laughed my ass of about a week later when the card got stopped in customs (we live in Finland) and he had to pay an addtional 50€ for it, 50€ for a paper card that probably cost about 2c to make!

Love the game, only card game i think worth playing...besides actual cards. I myself have a "Pump up Deck". Creatures are no more than 3 mana, loaded with Giant Growths, Armadillo Cloaks and stuff like that, also filled with Elves since most of them are Tap-Mana's themselves. Have some other complicated decks, like Black, Green which consists of plague winds, Thorn Elementals and other stuff like that...

The most expensive card in the game costs $2000...not expensive at all. Many cards are worth tens and hundreds, it's not that hard to pick up a card from Alpha or Beta and it worthing $30.

since making this thread, i've actually more or less stopped playing. i do occasionally go to drafts where i just rare draft and sell the cards. i'm finding the business relatively profitable. my local shop charges $10 to draft and i typically have walked out with $15+ of cash for what i pull/win.

Hmm, in our country we play all drafts with backdraft, so you need to win draft to have something what you can sell.

some places will do that, but the store i visit most often allows you to keep the cards you draft, and then you receive prizes based on what rank you achieve.

lol...you just described my friend's n00b green deck...I hate playing against those decks...mainly because their owners think that their G aggro is "so l33t"

That's when I pull out my Dstorm, Affinity, or Swans...

Haha, i totally don't think that. I just like taht kind of style, it's fast and easy to play. If i get a decent hand, second turn you take 10-15
