MacHeist is on (also MacUpdate Bundle)

And the bundle has been announced (there are also many free apps if you complete the missions).

I already have 1password, AppZapper and TaskPaper (can vouch for all), but still interested as CSSEdit and Pixelmator are likely to be unlocked (if numbers are the same as last year).

Not a lot of really serious apps this year. Developers are wising up. Phil Ryu walked away with a fortune last year and the developers got virtually nothing.

For most people, if there's just one or two applications you're interested in, it's better to support the developers and buy them directly. Plus that gets you full upgrade privileges, which some of these apps are missing.

I'm not sure how you define serious? While I agree DEVONthink, Delicious Library and TextMate beats Pixelmator, CSSEdit and Snapz Pro X, I wouldn't say by much and it's mute when price is discussed.

I also understand why Ryu was criticized last year, but I think it's safe to assume all developers who are taking part this year are doing so of their own free will.

I didn't buy last years bundle (as I already had DEVONthink and Delicious), but supposedly only TextMate had an unique license. All others had conventional upgrade paths. According to the forums this is the case for all apps this year too. I may be missing something though. Have you heard anything different?

Great deal, for those who need or want to check out the bundled applications.
I don't need any of them though..

But thanks for the heads up!

i don't know what you define as "serious," wodgy...but there's no app i use more than 1Password and cssedit is one of the coolest apps i've used in awhile.

moreover, the developers that signed on for this year's macheist knew what they were getting into based on the ruckus generated from gruber and others last year. as he said in a recent DF post, "fool me once..."

And besides throwing in a few games a couple days ago, VectorDesigner was just added (if they reach the next goal). If that happens I think we're definitely back in serious territory, no matter the definition. I watched a demo of it at Macworld and it seems a nice Illustrator alternative.

VectorDesigner (I'm a bit hesitant to call it VD) has been unlocked now! Can't wait to try it out when the new iMac comes in.

Somehow I feel like I got away with a good value this year, although I'm still not sure how much and how often I'll use any of what I got. I got DEVONthink in the pre-heist, and 1Password looks interesting, but I think I like Yojimbo better for notes/clips and password storage.

I guess I'll see.

For what it's worth I think Yojimbo is basically a copy of StickyBrain/SOHONotes with a few advantages in encryption and DB setup (and it's been weird the reviews of Yojimbo seem to think it's a new type of product). I used StickyBrain and DEVONthink Pro side by side for about six months. DEVONthink stayed on the computer.

Basically, DEVONthink for storage and referencing, TaskPaper for lists (already had a copy) and the free personal version of TheBrain for everything in between has worked for me.

With VectorDesigner, Pixelmator and CSSEdit on the MacHeist deal it's almost like a cheap Adobe package. A little over a day left guys.

hey chris...1Password is very different from Yojimbo. i own both...while yojimbo saves passwords for you and keeps a database of them, 1PW actually logs in for you when you go to your specific site...and it fills in data when you sign up for stuff, stores user/pw info for new sites you visit, provides random pws so you don't have to (and so you stop using the same ones over and over). they are working on iphone functionalities that i've heard are really cool, as well as a beta version of an online 1PW database that will allow you to retrieve all your info securely from any computer via the internet.

i'm gushing...but it's one of the rare apps that really does amaze and is far more useful than you might think...

Thanks for the added info about 1password. Sounds like it does more than I thought!

Since 1Password has been discussed in this thread, I thought I'd mention it's on sale today as it is the creators birthday.
