Hi there,

I'm a Head-Fi newcomer and I had a question about somehow improving my setup!

My budget is around 200 as of now

My setup is Itunes -> Mac Pro -> Optical Out -> Edifier S330D -> ATH AD700

I've been researching a little bit and I was wondering if going I should interject a DAC/amp in between the MP and Speakers/Headphones. Is it better to go the optical out or usb out to the DAC/amp?

I found the Beresford TC-7520 and I know it's over my budget but maybe you guys can help me find one that's closer to my budget and perhaps even better!

Thanks!

Read this thread if you have the time:

I'm not saying get the Maverick, but if you read through it you'll certainly get people's impressions of it and in that thread you will also see people mention direct competitors, so that will give you some other options to research.

The Maverick will do what you want though (you can connect to your Mac Pro via USB or Optical and connect your speakers to the output in the back and then have the headphone output in the front for your headphones). Plus it's right at your budget.
