Hi Peter,
I apoligize, I browsed through a bunch of threads, but did not use the search function. I am a mod on a computer forum, and certainly know better!

I have been a speaker kind of guy for years, but now that I have a domestic partner, am in need of a nice set of cans. I am slowly building my sound system back up after a couple of bad years in which I had to sell off everything I had.
I think I might like it here.
Thanks for the warm reminder, much appreciated!

on the other hand...this post did help me! i had never looked at these cans, but the post did lead me to the other threads...then to guitarcenter.com, $149...but more importantly:

these cans seem outrageously efficient (116 db @ 1mw) and might be exactly what i am looking for to use directly from iPod and laptop at home.

Is this 68 ohm resistance particularly low for full sized circumaurals? Are there other "audiophile" cans that might work well un-amped from portable sources??

thanks...and welcome JohnDC

i listened to the Q40 at the store using my ipod shuffle 1st gen and it sounded very loud on it, so the 68ohms is no problem~
