M-Audio Rev 7.1 AND Audigy 2 zs makes crackle/click noises

I've bought the Audigy 2 ZS and noticed that it made crackling/clicking noises during music playback. I read Creative's forums and it seems like this is a common problem. Therefore, I exchanged my Audigy for an M-Audio Revolution 7.1. But even with this card, I am noticing the same problem (clicks occur less frequently though). I have already tried to update/reinstall drivers, change PCI slots, and even disabling my onboard AC'97 sound. My music files are perfectly fine and I have never had this problem with my onboard sound. Could you all please help me solve my problem soon (within 6 days, or else I can't return the product for a full refund). I am really desperate and if this problem keeps occuring, then I may have to revert back to onboard sound. Thanks in advance.

First,use XP.I know that sounds stupid but many of creative and its related troubles have been solved,esp under XP.
Secondly do this :

Install Driver Cleaner.
Remove Creative audio drivers.Dont restart when finally asked to.
Run Driver Cleaner and choose Creative Audio.Select clean.
Restart PC.
Install your nvidia or via chipset drivers ie system forceware or Hyperion.
Restart.
In BIOS,set PCI latency timer to 32/64. I use 64.
Reinstall DirectX
Reinstall Sound card drivers.

nobb: You don't happen to be running an nForce2 board with APIC mode enabled? If so, a BIOS update might help.

Also, if you're not gamer, you can use registry tweak to decrease graphic cards PCI latency into lowest acceptable (follows above mentioned (bolded) setting on bios: 32 is optimal performance).

Tweak:
- set all 'DisableProgPCILatency' key values on registry into 1 (HEX or DEC). (defaulted to 0).
- boot

When you BOOT 1st time after changes, your PC may freeze or start very slowly. If it does, BOOT once into safe -mode (no changes need to do).
I think this happens if your graphics card is not accepting too low value.

I am using a MSI KT6 Delta motherboard. I have already tried to upgrade the VIA chipset (I think thats the BIOS). I have also tried to change the PCI latency values with a program called "PCI Latency Tool." I have also noticed that the clicks occur more frequently when Azureus (a filesharing application) is running in the background. I am not sure why this is.

I've been noticing the same problem recently with my Audigy 2 ZS, on an nForce2 mobo. Music plays back fine so long as i don't touch the keyboard - for some strange reason, whenever i'm pressing any keys (typing in MSN, etc) i get cracks and pops.

I've started playing WoW recently too, and noticed some pretty bad cracks/pops in-game for a while too. I tried all i could think of, removed/reinstalled drivers, downloaded the web updates, disabled/enabled onboard audio, tweaked with the sound card hardware settings, all to no avail.

Curiously enough, the problem now seems mysteriously tamed. I still get minor crackling when typing whilst playing music (of no real drawback, now that i use my cdp most of the time), but the distortions when playing WoW are gone. I think it was actually a Win 2k downloaded update that fixed it.

I asked a few others about this issue, and for them a reinstall of windows itself seemed to correct the problem. So perhaps some of the problems people have been having were windows-based rather than drivers-based.

The small caps bottom RH corner need upgrading to 100uf 50vdc electrolytic.

This is where the problem is with all this range of cards.
 
Lousy cheap caps of wrong value.
