Hello. My M-Audio BX5's produce a small static "hum". What's interesting is that the sound is monotonic, which means that it doesn't change with volume. I can hear the hum even if my computer's volume is muted. When music's playing it's a bit less obvious because the music overvolumes the static hum. The only way to stop this annoying sound is to turn off the speakers, which I obviously do not intend to do.

They are connected to my Macbook Air from 2 TRS connections to a 3.5mm Audio Jack. Might that be the problem, because of the connection's low quality? If so, what are my options?

Cheers.

One thing you could try is to isolate the speakers to their own power outlet or power strip. Doing this fixed the same issue I was having with my speakers.

If that doesn't work, it could be noise interference from your computer.  Getting a USB DAC or sound card could fix the issue.
