So my Dad wants some IEM's. He's not as picky as me about sound quality, so $50 is his limit. He listens to just classical and vocal, and it will be unamped from an iPod. Some noise cancellation would be nice (so canalphones are preferred, though not required) and not too much booming from the cord with movement. Reasonable durability would also be nice. I understand IEM's don't have as wide of a sound stage (I got some myself), but hopefully they'll be fine for him.

I'm currently looking at the Head-Direct RE2's, and the Yuin PK3's. However, all these combinations of letters and numbers are starting to drive my head crazy, so after searching the forums a few times, I figured I'd post here and see if you guys had some ideas.

The Soundmagic PL30 ($25) and PL50 ($50) are both quite good with classical and vocal. The PL30 is a bit more airy with wider soundstage whereas the PL50 is more detailed.

Maybe an ADDIEM (apple in ear) off ebay (~$35-40)? They're supposed to be fairly analytical.

I wish I could find a seller I was sure of on ebay. I've seen copies on far eastern web sites that have he boxes, tips, filter grills, paperwork the lot now and the "returns" and "used" ones on ebay look a lot like the earlier copies where the accessories weren't included.

Agreed. Two price points, two great IEMs. Although the RE2s perform admirably as well.

Thanks a lot guys! I just read a a few reviews on these Soundmagic's, and they sound great!

One question though: Where can I buy them? No place online seems to have them.

Focalprice.com has the cheapest prices and there was a coupon code floating around. If you don't want to wait for shipping from HK head-direct sells some soundmagic models.

Edit: focalprice coupons here.
