I'm looking for headphones that have a lot of bass without having to turn up the volume too loud. I like bass a lot, but I don't want to damage my hearing. Any suggestions?

You should be more descriptive about what the criteria are and you'll get better suggestions.

1. Full sized hp's or portables?

2. IEM's an option?

3. Budget?

4. Kind of music you listen to?

I applaud your effort to keep the volume down.

I'm just gonna throw this out on a limb - Onkyo ES-HF300
I thought this has some of the yummiest 'big bass' around (for the price).

If that's a bit too pricey, the Sony MDR XB-series (400/600) isn't too bad. Not everyone's taste though. (not the older 300/500/700)
Some people really hate it, but considering the price and competition... well there isn't really any that can compete.. it's just very juicy. Not so much slam or aggression, which I thought was a nice change from the usual 'slam/boom' bass sounds.

Aiaiai TMA 1 have great bass. They were designed as DJ headphones, but because of their great sound grew a bit of a cult following. They have recently released a lower priced version, the TMA1 x
