First the K1000s:

Then the speakers-- Duevel Bella Luna Diamantes:

Actually I bought the AKGs after realizing they sounded so similar to the Duevels. I used to pull a trick with listeners-- have them wear the K1000s and I'd play the Duevels at the same time. Then I'd ask the listener to alternate lifting off and putting on the K1000s every few seconds.

As you take off the cans you'll notice a twin presentation from the speakers but expanded beyond the boundaries of the room. Quite an uncanny soundstage illusion, much like slightly zooming in and out with a handycam.

But then I understand this could sound gimmicky

so let's just file it under "fyi"

Thanks, loved them at the time but they're long gone.

Pardon my ignorance, but can you please tell me what the wooden block with the toggle switches in this pic is?

Altmann Attraction DAC, website here, fed with foobar 96k upsampled WAVs and powered by an Optima Red Top car battery (red plastic cover visible on left of rack). The manufacturer believes in just using a spruce board painted with some music-magical lacquer

The vibrating bass from K1000 gives me all the massage I need.

Massage? Not sure what to say, but I would rather call it more like a "caress" from a pu$$ycat...

Very nice system, very nice. The view of the bridge is not too shabby either. Reminds me of a restaurant I used to have lunch at down by the water, a short cab ride from 111 Wall St as I remember. IMHO nothing beats a great system, which you have, a great view while listening to the great system, which you have, and a great beverage to enjoy.
