Yesterday I noticed that the bass frequency on my music has become really weak. The bass didn't disappear completely, but the bass on the amazing M-50x headphones used to be so deep, lively and powerful, and now it just sounds like nothing, so weak in comparison.

It should be noted that I've only been using the headphones for a few months, I never (!) took them out of my apartment, and they never took any hit of any kind, always been treated gently. Therefore, is it even possible that the headphones' sound would get screwed up?

I thought maybe the problem could be with my cellphone and not the headphones. I've dropped my phone many times, but the headphones never took any hit, so maybe it's the phone's audio that got screwed. But is it even possible that only the bass frequency on the phone would get screwed? If so, can it be fixed?

Any thoughts?

I'f the problem is on both sides I find it unlikely that it is your headphones. Most common reason for bass loss is worn out/damaged earpad. But that won't happen on both sides simultaniously. Neither does driver failure. Maybe it could the cable but I'd assume you would also experience loss off volume and otherwise wonky sound.

Plug them in on a computer or someone elses phone and you will get your answer if the bass is back.

Sounds like a broken earth connection. It's not broken at the headphone end so you are hearing the difference between the two channels.

This could be in the headphone plug but more likely I think would be the socket on the phone.

Easy to check by plugging the headphone into something else.
