I was using ephpod to add songs to my ipod for roughly 6 months. I hooked my my ipod to my laptop today for the first time in a long while, and iTunes started autosyncing and deleted all the songs that weren't stored in the itunes library on that computer. ahh!!!

I have lost so much music! I'm really freaking out right now! Is there any way I can get this back? I deleted most of that recently added music when I formatted my desktop, thinking it would be saved on the ipod, but now its gone! I'm really having a heart attack right now. Please help!

CURSE YOU AUTO-SYNCH! I used to have the same prob until I jsut decided to carry everything on my desktop HD and let it have its auto-way with my ipod.

I'm sorry to say that I think only very expensive HD recovery action can bring back deleted files from your ipod, which may not be worth the cash.

That's why you should always have a back-up of all of your music. Took me loosing my entire collection years ago to teach me that lesson.

that does suck... if it makes you feel any better I had my harddrive die last year that had over 100GB of music on it... lets just say i was quite upset and lets just say I only have about 70GB of it back currently...

now I make sure two have two copies of my music at all times... and well its made me use CDs more...

I don't have an iPod, but I have used iTunes. The first thing I did was keep my files outside the itunes library folder. That way if I delete a file from the database, then it would not delete the file on the computer. Well the only thing to do now is re-rip all those CDs and keep a backup.

Now don't mess with hardrive yet. Try some of those tools for recovering lost data. Good luck!

/sigh I think this is hopeless.

I found a good free-trial recovery program Tune Up utilities
http://www.tune-up.com/products/tune...tour/undelete/

unfortunately, a lot of the songs are in "bad" shape, meaning they don't work. Plus all the id3 tags are gone, and there are too many songs to go through and figure them all out. I have most of the music backed up, but as I said, everything from the past 6 months (i.e. the bulk of my metal collection) is totally gone.

Damn.

I don't mind the other bands so much, its just that all of my Opeth (except blackwater park) and Death is gone
