just purchased used hd600 and the cable on the left cup is loose; if i accidently touch or move it, the left cup loses the sound.

How can i fix it, do you have any guides on how to open headphones/replace cables? (i couldnt find

Try pushing in on the plug as hard as you can to make sure it is really plugged all the way in. If that doesn't work, then you have to find out if the damage is with the male plug from the cable or the female plug on the driver. Best case is if it is cable damage, which you can replace with the HD650 cable. Worst case is a damaged driver ...

You should just be able to pull the connector straight out if you want to inspect it. Don't twist it or anything, though- the Senn connectors are a side-by-side two conductor that you could damage if you twist them.

As for finding the fault you can start by unplugging the cable and reversing the leads- i.e. plug the cable from the right into the left and see if the problem persists. From there you might be able to determine where the problem is coming from.

i tried 650 cable, and even though it sits quite tight, it still loses sound if i gently move it left/right (the right side doesnt do that)

i wonder what should i do.. return as damaged item?

It may be that someone in the past tries to plug it in the wrong way round and opened up the small socket by trying to plug the large pin in.

If you have tried a new cable and the problem is still there, it sounds like a problem with the socket and it has got splayed and is not making proper contact.

Before you do anything else swap the cables over - left to right and right to left - if the fault is on the same capsule, it's a capsule/socket fault. If it changes with the cable, it's a cable fault.

it does the same on the left can, after swapping the cable - moves left/right quite freely. I opened the grill and there's no visible damage or any signs of anything wrong, absolutely symmetrical to right cup.

must the actual plug on a driver is too big

Do you reckon I should return? I didn;'t pay much, and really like the sound, but that kind of thing really annoys me

Or possibly any other fixes?

I experienced a similar problem with my 650s when new and found that wedging a tiny piece of a matchbook in the side of the slot fixed my issue. Might be worth a try.
