So, I will probably be upgrading some time to the Beyerdynamic Tesla t1, or the LCD-2 (more than likely the tesla t1). These seem like the best price - performance headphones, based on what I have seen in comparisons between other ultra high end headphones. I want something that will be able to drive these things as they're supposed to be driven. I have, right now, a magni 2. It seems to drive my Sennheiser HD650 headphones pretty well, but I have no idea how it will power either of these headphones. If anyone has any ideas of what a good amplifier would be for these headphones, I would appreciate your suggestions as I know nothing about how to find the right amplifier.

Darkvoice 336SE, $240.

The eBay seller also sells the 336SE thru Amazon, for the same price.

What sources or DAC are you using?

To get the best from T1s you will want an OTL amp, which will not work with a planar like LCD-2....

T1s thru a solid state amp are quite bright and not much fun,but from an OTL they are still bright, but tamer and sound much nicer.

EDIT: I own an LCD-2 and a Magni Uber, and used to own the T1....Magni drives the LCDs fine, not the best ive heard them sound but still good. The Magni didnt do the T1s anywhere near the same justice.

EDIT 2: T1s will sound entirely different to you than the HD650...its like comparing a summer day in the tropics vs. winter night in the Arctic.

The LCD-2 is a logical upgrade to HD650...so if youre looking for a better HD650,then go for LCD-2,if youre looking to compliment your 650s with an entirely different sound,go for T1s

I do have a vali, but it's not the vali 2 with the open tube amp on the top which is probably replaceable. So I'm not sure when my vali will stop working.

you can prolly get a 600 ohm DT990 off of Amazon for fairly cheap and give it a go thru your amp and see how it sounds...I had both the T1 and 600 ohm DT990 at the same time and they sounded and responded to my OTL quite similar.

If you like what youre hearing from the DT990,return it and get the T1
