Looking to upgrade from my HIFIMAN HE400i, Where do I go from here?

I have had my HE400i's for nearly a year and I am looking to upgrade. I've been looking at various headphones; HD 800, LCD-2, ESP 950, STAX 3100. I know, I know none of these are really even directly comparable.... but I would like something with more richness and mid-range, with a little punchier bass and crisp highs. I live in a relatively small Canadian market with no premium audio stores, so testing any of these before buy is pretty much a non-option.  My budget for a set of cans is $1200-$1500 USD. Let me know your experiences with the higher-end spectrum of phones and what my best options are.

I have not heard the HE-400i but I like my HE-500s more than my LCD2.2.

It has all the attributes you want,except for comfort(heavy) and they need a pretty good amp.
