well, as of now i have sony mdr-cd180 that i got for $20 several years ago. my friend recently sent me his audigy2 platinum sound card as well.

what i use the headphones for is strictly computer use so they never need to leave my desk. I listen to music often and would like acoustic/soft rock/adult alternative to sound good, im not too attached to bass as long as it sounds rich, but i also play games which i have to hear my enemy, so i dont care about the game sounding cool i just want the best for competitive play.

so those are my 2 needs, and i have looked at sennheiser mostly. ive searched the forum and found a lot of posts but i dont want to be really upset with my choice so i thought id post and get your thoughts.

at first i wanted to get the hd280 pro's. with their reviews and price but i found out the headband cracks overtime and the closed to sounds is a problem just because i want to be able to hear my brother talk to me while im in-game. so i went to the hd485's and liked the reviews i saw and think id be happy with them at the cost of $72 or so, but then i saw the hd555 cans and they are talked about very highly as well (although im scarred because cnet said they are just ok for music...), and i can get them for $91 or so right now which id be willing to do if they are worth the 20 bucks extra, 100 dollars is my limit and would consider other cans if they were a clear choice.

and i wont be cranking the volume up too high but idk how i feel about everyone hearing what song im playing, will they be able to for sure?

thanks everyone!!
