looking to experience some wood

Well if your looking to experience some good wood...

You should know that it's not going to be cheap.

Denon AH-5000 and AH-7000, audio techinica's top phones, both have wood covers. Grado RS line and GS have wood but I think those are just for ascetic purposes.

Google those brands and you'll find some. Wood is only with their top phones I'm afraid.

In terms of wooden headphones, you have a choice of open-back 'phones (Grados), or closed-back (those portable AT 'phones mentioned by others).

Now if you're seeking that other kind of wood, I'm sure there are dating sites for that kind of stuff.

What exactly is your price range?

If I were you, I'd aim for a pair of Grado RS-2. They do anything and everything well, and if it wasn't for my ADD, I would gladly still have them with me.

The Sony MDR-R10's have some nice wood on them, and have heard very good things, but have no first hand experience (I wish).

Wow, Sony R10 with APS cable, it looks expensive

.

Why don't you go for a Grado SR-60 wooded by Headphile? Don't think it'll sound any better but it will sure be expensive. Or you have the ATH W1000.
