Looking to buy headphones for college - Drawn to noise-cancelling/isolation, but want sound quality as well - QC35's?

Hello all! I'm a headphones rookie looking to get a good pair before I go away to college. The inspiration for this post came from my demo of the QC35 at a best buy today. I was BLOWN AWAY by their noise-cancelling capabilities and so began doing research on them and other similar ones. I don't have much to compare my demo to, so i'm looking for advice. I've read that ANC like that of the QC35 is generally unnecessary and sound quality on these types of headphones is sub-par for the price point, but at the same time I really like the isolation factor they have. How comparable is the isolation factor of similar headphones?

I see myself mainly using them in my dorm room and other places around campus (maybe outside) as well as in libraries, so I wouldn't want sound leaking out. As far as music goes I listen mostly to hip-hop but also play classical every now and then. I would also be using them to watch TV shows, movies, and Youtube videos. How much of a difference in sound quality is there between something like the QC35 and a comparable pair? Any advice is welcome!

edit: I've been looking around more in the meantime and like the Sennheiser Momentum 2.0 (wired and wireless). Thoughts on the two?

Thank you!
