Hello,

I'm looking for the best heatshrink for recabling high-end phones. I was recommend VFP-876 or the Versafit, but I would like to get everyone's opinion here. It would be to recable the equivalent of Canare Starquad (4 wires) from the Y-split to the phones so that's for 2 x 20 AWG wires.

I need to know what would be the best heatshrink and the best size also not to shrink to much and be flexible.

Thanks

IMHO from the Y-Split to the phones - either TechFlex sheathing or twisted insulated wires in all their bare glory works much better and looks great.

Heatshrink covered wiring would not be flexible enough for headphones use...

For the connector, split area and headphone connection/entry point - 3M heatshrinks are excellent products.

I use Marine heatshrink extreme quality high adhesive interior, may be too tough for yor application... but y-splits may serve you perfect..

I think you're obsessing a bit much about the shrink in terms of quality. What you're really probably more concerned with is aesthetics which may bear no relation to the shrink's abilities. I'd suggest contacting several vendors to see if you can get some small samples. I can tell you first hand that the thing that has caused me the most trouble in the last year is finding small diameter RED heat shrink. I've got quite a bit of worthless, pink heat shrink in my parts box as a result of failed orders.
