Alright, so I have never really bought a nice pair of headphones, but now that I have the money I think it's about time I put a little cash into a nice pair. I'm looking for something portable that I can use at school, and will be pretty comfortable. Also It'd be nice if they didn't leak alot of sound, because thats never good really when at school and in quieter places. My price range is pretty much anything under 200. Less is better. Got any recommendations? Thanks!

Sony V6, Audio-Technica ES7, Beyer DT770, AKG K81DJ. All closed, all well regarded around here. And a good suggestion for these threads is list what types of music you listen to, it helps out a lot.
And welcome to Head-Fi, and sincere apologies to your wallet.

Second vote for the Denon AH-D1000's

but my all time favourites are the Sennheiser `HD25-1's. if you want a "full size but small enough to be portable" headphones, i'm sorry, but nothing beats the HD25-1's.

any more suggestions guys. I read some about the HD25-1 and from a review here, they say I could get something better for the price of those probably. What else would you guys recommend. I mean they don't have to be extremely portable, I just want the best bang for my buck and to be able to bring them to school now and then.

bump. Just saying again, something portable for around $200 or less, that's relatively comfortable, will not leak tons of noise, and will be good for listening to mainly hip-hop and trance music. I also listen to some celtic type music to but mainly hip-hop and trance.

Really Cheap: JVC Marshmallows
Kinda Cheap: V-Moda Vibes

Above that, not sure.

Although it doesn't fit your criteria you must try some Senn PMX100 for times open headphones are OK. You just can't beat them for the price....

In the same line as the PMX100s, you should look at the Koss PortaPros, they are also open, but their not that leaky, unless you have your ipod maxed out. Their cheap (~$45) and ultra portable, comfortable, with a lifetime no questions asked warranty. Their what i would use for a school headphone that i can throw in my backpack and not worry if it gets busted up (b/c or warranty) and they don't need an amp like some of the others listed. And you can find them at your local radioshack.

I tried them yesterday, and bought them for a friend. Tomorrow im going back to get a pair for myself (for school) (to replace my bose triports)

Also there know for their big bass, great for hip-hop

I have the audio technica es7's and definately recommend them. They are very portable headphones that offer a great sound. They don't leak much if any sound unless you listen at extremely high levels imo. The headphones satisfy my ears for the music i listen to (rock/electronic/hip hop) The es7's also sound great unamped.

The rp21's have been recommended a lot lately, though I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I would consider those also, however they don't appear to be quite as portable as the es7's due to their bigger size. Other portables that I would recommend to you are the ksc75's (however they are open) and the jvc marshmallows.

I can't imagine you wear A900s walking around Siam Square and Siam Paragon.
