I found this mid tier phablet on clearance at Walmart for $45!  It was normally priced $199 off contract and $99 on!  So far, I am absolutely astounded by it coming from a Samsung Galaxy S3.

VERY little bloatware, near stock android really, surprisingly decent sound quality through my Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80 clone)...

Hoping to find someone here who can dig up information on the DAC used, as well as measurements and reviews of the stock players and the Dolby app etc.

I am really pleased by my purchase but knowledge is power as they say and I would really like some actual science to support my listening observations.

I see that there are three apps that appear to influence music being Music Version 2.1 5.48MB, Music_ZTE version Mifavor 1.8 64.00KB & MusicFX Version 1.4 60.00KB Does anyone know what DAC is in this and if any of these music apps could be disabled or replaced with better options?

I'm also looking for this information.  This phone has a great DAC !... very musical and full in bass.  I've upgraded to LGv10 which has a 32-bit DAC, but while it has superior treble and separation, the bass is very anemic and thin.    The Zmax beats it by a mile and more.

Glad to know it wasn't just me!

I was quite surprised by the quality of sound coming through my Gemini HSR-1000 (Takstar Pro 80 rebadge).  Don't even benefit much from amping.  I don't know if it is the stock player and dac being integrated with the Dolby Audio or what but WAY better than what I got from my Galaxy S3.

ZTE has things like the Axon which are supposed to be even better for audio but I wish they would tell what they're putting in the phones.

Tried emailing and calling but no joy...
