Looking for some headphones for bassy rap music.

I'm willing to drop about $100 dollars on some new headphones. I bought some Shure E3C's a few months back. Nice earbuds, but they lack bass. Now I'm interested in buying headphones. I'm not to sure about technical terms like high's, low's, etc... And I want something I can use without an amp.

Depends on what type of headphones you want (ie. IEMs, over the ear headphones, etc.). A bassy pair of supraural headphones suited for rap would be the AKG K81DJs. RP-21x may work too, but I've never heard them personally, so don't take my advice on that pair.

K81dj for sure. Great portable good looking phones that are easily driven without an amp and have a very deep bass response and they are very tough you can beat the crap out of them and not worry about it.

Equation RP21 is a good headphone with good bass. To me, it sounds better than the K81DJ, but you lose portability and the K81DJ IMO is better looking.
