Hello guys.
I haven't been on Head-Fi for a while, and for a good reason.
My DX50 Headphone out is going after me abusing it a little bit too much on the road. While it wasn't the highest in the lineup, I like the warm Wolfson chip that is in the unit. I am big in warmness sound. Since I'm not doing the CD Player route, I found that the best bang for your buck nowadays is a Higher end DAP. This time it won't be on the road that much.
I use Grados only on my headphone setup, currently the SR225e, which is a better bang for your buck than the RS1e (which wasn't up to spec for my taste). I noticed a lot of the DAC chips nowadays are using Sabre chips, which isn't always up to my liking.
Since I been out of the loop, I was hoping if I can get some good leads for a good DAP, one that can drive Grados, Warmness sound, and good storage (I have plenty of MicroSD cards)? I don't know what else I need to know nowadays about current DAPs, I'm too used to the DX50 unit. I was looking to spend $500ish (unless getting one for under $1000 is a big deal).
