Hey guys new to the audiophile world and was looking to take a plunge and pick up a nice set of headphones. I only have ever had lower end ear buds/ over ears. So I have finally decided to splurge and pic up a decent set. My budget will be around 300 bucks, I mainly listen to technical deathcore/metal and reggae(lol yes i know two opposite spectrums) ill post examples below. But I was looking for opinions from more experienced ears than mine.Style wise I like the styling of Vmodas, but i do not like leather and prefer cloth as leather makes me feel sweaty haha. So if anyone could help me out I thank you very much, if not, I will make a thread soon hoping to get direct answers when I can or at least when It doesn't have to be approved as im a noob here. Thanks again .

As you said two extremely contrasting musical styles, which could be problematic for finding a single pair of headphones that excel at both.

I listen to my HE-500s or LCD-2s for Reggae. For metal I use my ATH AD2000s but im not into the same type of metal youre into.

AD2000s are extremely fast headphones, meanwhile the planars do the bass and mids of Reggae justice.

No,neither are in your price range.I brought them up only to illustrate that even at a thousand dollars, other headphones can do different genres better.

If you want something in the 300 and under club,I suggest you check out

AKG K7XX
Beyer DT990
Senn HD600/650
Grado 325e

EDIT: There are memory foam pads for V-Modas M-100

Thanks a noticed that right away. I like the M100s but everyone seems to say they need to come with the XL pads, and I dont know if they are genre specific or not. Thanks again

They have the bass you want for reggae def,and might be aggressive enough for your metal as well, but Ive personally never heard them so I cant say for sure.

Yeah finding something with a  deep enough bass tone yet can keep up with the sweeping tones i like will be a fun one to find. Thank you for all you have mentioned so far. doing research. :)
