So, I have Sennheiser HD-600's with a modi/magni that i got for a friend and i absolutely love them for at home listening (my only complaint is the bass). Now I am looking for a headphone I can wear out, on planes, in the library, walking the streets, etc... I am looking for an over the ear, closed back headphone under the $300 mark that doesn't require a DAC/AMP, and I love bass, i should say I listen to a lot of rap/edm/pop but I also like some classic rock/metal. Headphones that I am currently looking at are the v-moda crossfades, Sony MDR1A, and Beyer DT770 but I am completely open to suggestions. Thanks for any input

In good faith I'd have to advise against the MDR1A. They're bassy but it overpowers the rest of the frequencies to the point where it sounds bloated and sloppy. The build quality isn't great either. They look a lot better than they feel. I use the Momentum 2 which are decently punchy, especially with EQ. They're not a "basshead" pair of headphones but they're built much better than the Sony
