Thank you all in advance for your thoughts and insights. Am looking for a closed back to wear in bed at night and potentially when traveling (Plane/Hotel). My preference is for cans vs. IEM due to issues with comfort, ear canal fatigue, and having to take them out/reinsert every time someone asks me a question (wife/kids). Have narrowed things down to the list below, but am willing to consider others.
Critical Factors:
1. Sound Quality. Looking for fun, non-fatiguing, and high resolution. Am 52 and my hearing drops off around 14-15k.
2. Isolation. Primary use will be in bed at night and do not want to wake my snoring wife/have sound leakage when listening at normal volume.
3. Durability/Fit/Comfort. Will be wearing these while laying on my back with a pillow under my head.
Cans:
Focal Radiance
DCA Aeon 2 Noire
Audeze LCD-XC
IEMs
Sennenheiser IE600
Sony IER-M9
Current Headphones and IEMs
Enigma Acoustic Dharma (enjoyable and fun but open back)
Focal Listen (ok with good isolation)
Sure 425 (meh, lacks resolution)
Westone B30 (dislike, bassy and muddy)
Source:
Portable: iPhone -> Mojo2
PC: Audrivana -> Peachtree Nova or Mojo2
Musical Preference
Grateful Dead, Phish, 70's Classic Rock,
