Hello all
To make the story short, my beloved Stanton dj pro60 died like a week ago, so I'm looking for a new pair of portable headphones, iems or something.
I have a pair of Senn hd595 for home listening and I like that kind of sound signature even tough I haven't hear grados or other brands.
I will use the new headphones mostly for walking to univ, home and work.
I can't decide if I want a pair of IEMs or just a pair of headphones so please guide me.
I was thinking of getting a pair of px100, used shure e4c or grado sr60 or 80.
I listen to all kinds of music but mostly (last time) to Led Zeppelin, Radiohead, Clap your hands say yeah, The beatles and some other stuff. (BTW I will use this phones with my Zune.)
What would you recommend me? I'm thinking of spending $100 dollars at the most.

Thanks everyone in advance

Sebastian

Beside iGrado, most Grado will not be good choice for out door use. Also, you might want to consider some closed 'phone instead of open for a little isolation.

ATH-ES7? Closed, and should be good for the type of music you listen to. I just got a pair, and I like them so far. It offers "bigger" sound compared to my mylarone X3's.

Closed or open, amp or no amp?

Its all about compromise. Are you more interesting in overall SQ or portability or isolation?

A $100 pair of headphones with outperform IEMs for the most part.

Here are some recommendations:

Closed/Full: RP-21

IEMs: D-Jays

Open: Px100, Grado SR 80.

There are also some other alternatives. You could use a pair of JVC Marshmallows while walking around and get a full size can for home.

Lots of options. Welcome to Head-FI.
Ground rules first.

@Airtimid: thanks for the recommendation but I think they're too big and I want to keep the price below $100usd (maybe a little more)

@Dash: I'm interested in sq and in portability. How do the Px100 compares to the SR 80 in terms of sq and sound? I will not use an amp. Maybe in the future but not yet.
