Basically looking for some suggestions to start off my research.

Here's what I'm looking for in a headphone/other info:
  1. Max $300 CAD
  2. Probably closed since I use them at night and sometimes outside
  3. I like good bass, I thought the ones in my 770 were decent.
  4. I listen to a lot of tv/movies, rap/rock music
  5. Very comfortable, since I will wear them hours at a time
  6. Maybe with a detachable cord since I found the one with my 770 to be annoying

I thought about getting another dt770 but I want to try something different this time.
I also have a Fiio e11 + ipod nano if that matters.

I'm looking forward to hearing your suggestions

hmm.... I dunno ... If you (like myself) like the sound of the DT770's and need something comfortable for hours, I can't personally think of a closed headphone for that price I'd rather have than the DT770 Pro 80s.

maybe someone else has some ideas but if my pro80's died ...I'd get new pro 80's personally.

what broke on you DT770's out of curiosity?  can they be mended?

The left driver. Tried to see if I could fix it, no luck.

Anyways, while I enjoyed them, I would rather try something new.

Looking into the ath m50x and msr7 right now

I own the M50X (can't speak to the msr7) I would take the DT770's for home / studio use all day everyday... the DT770's sound better and are much more comfortable.   The M50's are more portable to be sure but the DT770's kill them (imho) for SQ and comfort.

Thanks for the comparison. M50x definitely more towards the bottom of my list. Gonna look into the msr7 some more

PhIlips Fidelio X1/X2

Better soundstage
Less strident highs
Equal or better bass
Extremely easy to drive
Very comfortable
Detachable cable

Theyre open backed headphones,so if you need closed back, for whatever reason, nevermind.
