Hi!
I'm totally new to using headphones and would like to get me some nice ones to start with.
The only purpose I need them for is watching movies, sometimes on foreign languages (Mother tongue is German) which often gives me a hard time understanding all the dialogues (can't turn the volume up too loud cause there's other people living with me). That's why the frequency ranges that most of the voices are at could be a little louder and clearer than the rest.
They should be in the lower price range, about 50 - 100 bucks is all I can spend as a student. I'm also not an expert on sound, maybe you've noticed already. My hearing is simply not that good, e.g. I can hardly hear a difference between MP3@128kbps and MP3@192kbps
Of course the headphones should be closed, although they don't need that good of an isolation to outer noise (don't want to start sweating underneath them).
So if anyone can suggest me some nice ones, please do and please excuse my laziness, I went through many of the recent threads and also used the search function, but there just don't seem to be many movie watchers around here... Thanks in advance!

There's lots o' film goers here. I was with a small DV group a week ago and was surprised to see the mic guy with Sony 7506's. That (and it's sister the V6) are certainly options and I think would make great film cans for your price point. They do however have recessed mids so maybe not ideal depending on your film choices. Maybe it's good to list a few films you like also. As different types of music work better with different cans, I can only think this increases between say Armageddon and My Life As A Dog.

The Sony V6 are my current favorite headphones for movies.
They give good isolation and clean vocals.
If you shop on the web you can grab a pair for under $80.

Thanks for the quick response. You've already been a great help!
I've looked them up and found out that the price of Sennheiser's HD 280 Pro ranges from 99,- € to 149,90 € (that's something like $105 - $155). Unfortunately there's only very few German dealers who offer the V6 or the 7506 by Sony. Several price comparison sites do not list those two at all.
Sadly I'm a movie addict and there is no certain type of film I enjoy the most, I watched "Armageddon" as well as "My Life As A Dog". What I can say though is that I like stupid movies. After a long day of thoughts rushing through my head at lightning speed I usually feel the need to switch my brain off.
Since most people here seem to prefer the Sony ones for movies, maybe someone who knows both the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro and the Sony 7506/V6 is able to tell me how they compare. That would be great. Looking at the price the Sennheiser ones seem to be better. Unless there is a large difference I think I'm going to buy these. After all 100 bucks is allright and I don't wanna keep searching for a dealer. And again: Thanks in advance.

Hey, I just found out: Sony doesn't sell the MDR-V6 throughout Germany.

I also hadn't noticed that there is a review of both the Sony ad the Sennheiser headphones when I made my last post. I've just finished reading through it and decided to get the Senheiser HD 280 Pro. I think i will fit my needs. So thank you guys for the great advice, I really appreciate i (or at least hope so

Isn't the Ultrasone hifi 650 DVD ment for movie-watching? And if open or closed isn't an issue, the Beyer 990s can make many movies reach sound nervana. IMO The Lord of the Rings should have a "Made for the 990s!" logo on it.

@plainsong
Thx for your response, but it's too late. I've already orderes the Sennheiser HD 280 Pro for a total of $135,53. I've tried to find a store that sells the Beyer 990s and the Ultrasone hifi 650 DVD, but it seems like they're not sold at all in Germany. They cost more than I am willing to spend for my (first) headphones anyway.

As soon as I get the Sennheisers I'm going to report back to you and post a short review that wil be as detailed as possible. (And this is not very detailed, I've told you about my hearing
