I have a 5G video iPod in a Contour Showcase. I recently ordered a RSA Hornet and an ALO Cryo Dock. I have never used a headphone amp before, and I want to be careful not to damage the cable or drop one of the units. I thought it would be best to somehow attach the amp to the iPod case, perhaps with Velcro, to make one bundle that I could hold in my hand easily. However, I am not sure that I want to put Velcro strips on my new Hornet.

What do people usually do about this? Do they leave the two components unconnected (except by the cable of course)? Do they use Velcro or is there another good way to connect them? Is there a thread where people have posted pics of their setup?

Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. It's true what you say... I registered on this site less than a week ago, and I have already spent $500 and have my eye on another $300-500 for new headphones.

I really like using small O Rings, as many of the members do here. They are easily found at your local building supply store, I got mine at Lowes. Easy on, Easy off and they are really durable. I get the really thin ones and just use two together in the center of my IPOD. It holds my Hornet on very well.

I also use small rubber feet to keep the two from slipping around on ea other, in addition to a bestskinsever.com skin on the IPOD.

Thanks for the ideas. The link to that thread was very helpful. It took me some time to get through all those pics while still appearing to be working LOL. I got some good ideas in there - saw a few Hornet/ipod combos.

I looked at the Velcro wraps, several people used them. I like that they are not permanent and they would certainly work. I use my ipod in the car, and I want a solution that allows me to quickly "unbuckle" the amp. The Velcro wrap would be ideal for that.

I liked the O-ring idea also (I think I saw CMasten's rig in the thread in fact). I also saw some people using the LiveStrong bands, which I liked. I like these ideas better than rubber bands, which are certainly functional but not as elegant.

Another neat idea that I saw was putting the amp in a cell phone case, and attaching the cell phone case to the ipod case somehow. Again, this would work well for my car switch.

I think the Hornet would fit nicely in a larger cell phone case if I have measured correctly. BUT... do the amps put out much heat? I wouldn't want it to overheat in there. Most of these cell cases do have semi-open bottoms, so it wouldn't be totally enclosed at the back of the amp and might be ok anyway.
