I'm currently searching for my best budget option to feed headphones like Grado sr225 or even Sennheiser HD595 (that have more impedance), please checkout this thread:

(I posted it at Computer as Audio Source because of the PCI and USB card interfaces for PC, so I don't want to create a duplicated post, but it seems a matter of headphones amps, so I thought you guys could help, please follow the link)
Thanks!

save up for something like a used DAC1 or LavryDA10. if i could do everything over again, that is what i would buy first (knowing i would go this far).

Sounds like you're interested in using your computer as a source (i am). optical out is the best way to eliminate the noise generated by the computer. these are Very good DACs. they can be used for almost anything 2 channel, monitors/speakers, or headphones, out of your computer, 42" LCD, or PS3.

they have balanced output so if you ever go that route is wide open.

the built in HP2 amp is good enough to start with (until you can afford something at the same level/figure out a synergistic combo). You get a DAC and amp in 1 - that's pretty good. now to convince someone they should spent ~750ish...the resale price seems very stable.
