Doesn't have to be all female, but I'm trying to expand my collection. I have nothing with female vocals...

i always liked Grace Slick of Jefferson Starship/Airplane fame!

I don't have a lot in that category myself but I did try out Karnataka. Their website is at Karnataka Official Website

Downloadable samples are available via their "music" link.

They have a pretty good female lead singer. I have the Strange Behavior live album and was pleasantly suprised with their musicianship.

I've been listening to Xandria abit lately including their 2004 album Ravenheart.

I really haven't looked into the history of the band at all so i don't know much about them.

Another band with female vocals is the Love Crave but they are a passing interest and I think I'll be sick of them in a week.

Both those bands are goth which I think fits in with what you are after.

Nightwish
Within Temptation
Epica
After Forefer

These use female singers as frontman (or shall I say frontwoman)

There are heaps of other female fronted symphonic/operatic metal, I'm sure other members will chime in with more recommendations. Personally I was disappointed with Lacuna Coil, just not up my alley.

And I have to include Therion - for me they are the apex of this genre.

Those are some of the most popular "clean" female diva vox symphonic metal, definitely check those out.......last one above is After Forever, also check these which also have some male distorted vocals:

The Crest
Penumbra
Sins of Thy beloved
Sirenia
Theatre of Tragedy
Trail of Tears
Tristania

More metal less symphonic clean female vox:
Sinergy
Graveworm
Lacuna Coil

I like Velvet Darkness They Fear (1996) and earlier albums but then they did their change to techno in 2000 and ....... sucked.

The female singer Liv Kristine joined another band, Leaves' Eyes and this band might also appeal to the OP.

For rough vocals and clean female vocals I also like Cradle of Filth.
