Hello all, I'm new here, as I'm sure many of you have noticed

All hellos aside, let's get down the business!

Now, I did plenty of research and decided I wanted the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3... then I found out the new phone has a 2.5mm input

(I just got it today, and I thought I had read it had a 3.5mm before).

The first option I've looked at is a 3.5mm to 2.5mm adapter, however, I'm unsure if that would degrade the sound, or be really bad about messing up when I move about. On the other hand, I like this possibility because then I could still use the headphones on the computer for music and games.

Second, I could get a pair of headphones with a 2.5mm output jack, except, the only high quality one I could find is the Sennheiser MM50, and there are no reviews of it anywhere (also, considering the price difference it wouldn't be as good as the Ultimate Ears -- and I don't want the microphone).

Another option is a bluetooth headphone, however, all of them are very bulky (stereo ones, at least), and I would be carrying the headphones pretty much anytime I had the phone on me, and with pocket space as scarce as it is, I don't much like that idea.

It occurs to me I'm pretty much set on the Ultimate Ears at this point, but I've not the experience that many of you guys surely have with adapters and such.

Thank you guys!

I'm having the same dilemma with my LG CU500, Unfortunately, there are not that many options when it comes to high-quality earphones with a 2.5" connection. There is the Sennheiser MM50 that you mentioned, which I have never tried, but I would think are pretty good based on Senn's track record. There is also the 3.5" to 2.5" adapter that you mentioned. The Verizon stores carry one for about $10, that has a mic and a call answering button on it, so that you can not only use your favorite earbuds with your phone, but they will double as a high-quality cell phone headset. I had good results with that product. Last but not least if you go the Bluetooth route, JR in New York sells a Stereo Bluetooth headset by Plantronics, that consists of a pair of canalphones along with a small Bluetooth attachment that you can hang around your neck or clip to your shirt. You can control the the playback on your phone, or answer calls from the attachment, and they sound very good, just about on par with my Denon c350 canalphones. The other good thing about them is that if you don't want to use the BT attachment, you can take it off and use the canalphones by themselves as a wired headset. You can also connect the BT attachment to your stereo system with the included adapter and play your cell phone through your home stereo! All this for $69.99 right now at J&R. I love them! Here's a link to their product page, and I hope that helps!

Yes, I've seen that bluetooth one on CNET, however, I'm still not entirely sure I want to go the bluetooth route... more opinions appreciated! I'd like to get them before August 10th, so I have some time to look around, but the sooner the better.

So you think I'd be alright with the adapter?

What brands should I look for on Amazon, or are there good ones available in stores? Should I look for gold plated?

The guys at LG should be shot. They try and pass these things off as media-player / cell phones.... and they can't even accept a 3.5mmm TRS??

Anyways, I use a verizon adapter with my VX8300. These aren't very good sounding sources to begin with, so IMHO the addition of an adapter is insignificant... its going to sound crappy with or without an adapter.
