Its been almost three years since my last headphones purchase. I decided this time that I want something a little more portable than what I usually like. I currently have a stock JVC HA-RX700 cans which I use almost daily. Well call me a fanboy but, I have grown very fond to the JVC sound signature.

Enough about that... lets get down to business. My price cap is around $50.

I have considered these so far:

JVC HA-S600

Koss PortaPro

What do I listen to... almost all genres of music. But one thing is certain... I also listen to alot of very bass heavy music... Techmaster P.E.B., Bass 305, Dynamix II... etc. Other times, I listen to metal and classical from time to time.

Any more suggestions ae quite welcomed.

The portapro and sportapro both fit the bill. The sportapros have a touch less bass, but both of these 'phones thump!

I love both pairs. I am very close to declaring the sportapros my favorite right now. But that would be a bit too fanboyish of me.

Most people on this forum seem to favor a closed design or IEM's for practical reasons, but for sound quality, NOTHING compares to an open design.

btw, what are your thoughts on the sound signature of the 700's?
