Hi! I have some Beyerdynamics DT770pro 80ohms edition, i had a portable amp pa2v2 but was use for desktop environment and it broke down and was not powerfull enough anyways.

My source is a soundblaster xfi-xtrememusic, and i dont have the guts to mod it.

Ill mostly Game to first person shooters, listen to music (Rap/Metal/Electronic)

Im willing to spend around 200-300$ for something that would give me good improvement. The problem i have right now, i dont know if its with the headphones or the source, but i have alot of distortion when i crank the bass up and loud for my tastes.

Desktop amp that can be directly plugged into 120v wall socket would be perfect, i dont need portable stuff. I dont have balanced cable or stuff like that.

Thank you for your advices.

First of all, you should not use EQ to boost the bass of the DT770, if you are doing that.

As for that price range and an amp, The Meier Audio Arietta would be the way to go, IMO. Mates well with the DT770/80.

I have Zu Pivot Mini Cable but its not RCA cables its just mini to mini. I would need something that wont bottleneck the sound signal to the amp while keeping the cost low.

What would you suggest to cable this amp? Remember that its gonna be connected to a sounblaster X-FI Xtrememusic....

Your ZU Pivot should be a Y cable and does not bottleneck. As written above - no EQ! A Portaphile 2^2 maxxed will work beautifully with a wallwart for your setup.

My Zu pivot is not a Y cable, its a 1feet mini-IC cable straight for portable use...

The portaphile 2v2 amp looks cool buts its more for a portable use, i need one with integrated power supply 120v, no batteries.
