Hi,

I have the AKG 712 and I am looking for a DAC & Amp. I have read that the 712's are hard to drive. I am looking at getting some Sennheiser HD650 in the future so I would like enough power to drive either.

I have looked at Cambridge Audio / Schiit so far but I am not sure what numbers I am looking for as I am new..

Maybe this DAC:

And would one of these provide enough power?

Magni 3 has more than enough power, so you should be just fine with those. If you would like other suggestions, you may want to specify yoru budget and if you have any other additional requirements and/or sound preferences. : )

Thanks :). My budget is 250GBP. When it comes to my taste well I listen to all sorts of music from Dance, pop, rap, rock so no preference in the music genres but I am looking for something that is just simply clean and punchy. I am open to options, any good British brands?

I think iFi and Chord are both British, but I think their units that are in your budget range are mostly portables, rather than full-size/desktop size units.

Not UK, but at least closer geographically than the US, Meier Corda amps (Germany) might be worth a look. Other European brands include Violectric/Lake People and Feliks Audio, but I don't think their stuff would be in-budget.

There are also lots of options from Asian companies which might be worth consideration, like Audio-GD and Topping.

All this with a grain of salt, as I don't have any of these devices myself. : )
