Evening gents.
Now, before we begin, I'd like to ask for a moment of silence. For I had found nirvana! It was in my hands! Musical bliss in the form of a Zune 80 and a pair of Klipsch Image X10s. That all ended today when my precious Zune fell from my coat pocket, tearing my x10s from my ears, and landed in a puddle which I'm now starting to believe had been plotting this all from the very start! Now what am I to do?!? No, "I Gotta Feeling"! No, "Dazed and Confused"! Can you even begin to imagine?!? Now, I know what you're thinking! It's still possible to find the rare Zune out there. And, a fine pair of x10s as well. But, it's been so long since I visited this fine forum that I thought I'd come and pick your brains. I'm sure I could replicate what I had but, as always, we hear the nagging whisper, don't we? What if there's something better out there?
So! As stated, I'm looking at a comfortable pair of IEMs to help me suffer my commutes. Hopefully, a pair under $200 but that's flexible. Of course, I'll be replacing my Zune as well. Lord, but the world of high capacity players has diminished, hasn't it? I've been looking around the portable source pages. The iBasso dx50 looks interesting. I realize that it's only 8 gigs internally but it seems an sd card would get me close to where I was. And, it has gapless playback, which is a must, but I've read that the dx50 is a little light on bass. This thing would need to play a mono press of "A Hard Day's Night" and do it respectfully. Maybe pair the dx50 up with a pair of RE-400? UM 10s? Should I fall back on the Klipsch brand? They give my Zune the tight bass that I was looking for. Like I said...this will primarily be for classic rock. Not metal.
