I'm kind of a noob, so please be kind.
 
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a closed over-ear at this price range. I recently bought an M-100 under the recommendations of fellow head-fiers, but found the bass a little too heavy. I'm now looking for something that has a wider soundstage (although I know that it will still be limited due to it being closed).
 
It is essential that the cans be somewhat portable because I am going to be using it a lot for travel and for it to be closed because I don't really want to hear background noise while listening to music. It will be plugged into an iPod 99% of the time; however I do own the FiiO E11 as an amp.
 
I have a wide array of music from hip hop to acoustic and folk music so a more versatile headphone would be preferred.
 
 
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried setting the EQ on the iPod to "Bass Reducer" ? I did that and found that it helped immensely with the bass of the M-100.

I have tried doing this but I still found the bass a little heavy. Don't get me wrong, I love the M-100 but IMO they're more for bass-heavy type of music but not necessarily for acoustic.

I've heard the hp50's are good I also heard the Sennheiser Momentum (over the ear) are good as well.

I've read about the Sennheiser Momentums and I know that they're highly regarded here; however, I also read that there's some issues with comfortability, especially for people with bigger ears. Have you had any personal experience with it?

I don't own them but I did order them and they should arrive sometime next week. I heard that they have ear cups that are some what small which can be uncomfortable for people with larger ears, but hopefully that should not be an issue for me since I have small ears.

The pro80 is pretty bassy with recessed mids but its a good basshead buy. Great soundstage and comfort

I have the over the ear Momentums. Great sound however my right ear does not fit properly in cup.
I do not have large ears.
So they might be going back to Best Buy
