I am currently in the market for a full-sized closed headphone (budget: ~$300-$400). The two models that have caught the most attention from me right now are these:

-Kenwood KH-K1000
-Audio Technica ATH-A900Ti

My music preferences are rather broad (rock, jazz fusion, new age, orchestral, as well as smaller classical ensembles) so I am looking for a good all-rounder. I highly value clarity, good instrument seperation, and detail. Soundwise, I like a controlled but full bass with good impact and a lush and detailed midrange. Treble I've noticed I can be sensitive to, so ideally the highs should sound smooth and not too brash or fatiguing. A wide soundstage is not a huge priority and with a closed headphone it probably shouldn't be. If it helps any my current favorite headphone is the Goldring DR-150 which I am pretty satisfied with (I haven't heard any higher-end headphones however) but there are just times where an open can is not ideal for my usage. Compared to the Goldrings I am looking for a headphone that's just a bit warmer sounding, with a little bit more bass and detail in the midrange, if that's possible.

If anyone here has actually heard both of these headphones before, a comparison between the two would be very much appreciated. I would also like to hear of any other suggestions for closed cans that fall within my price range.

You might look into the Markl modded and woodied Denon AH-D2000.
From all I've read they are very good, but the wooden cups will add to the bottom line considerably, unless of coarse you have your own woodshop.
