I've searched around and I more or less narrowed my choices down to one of the KSC cans (35s?) or the iGrados.

I'm seriously considering the iGrado since I love my MS-1s but I was wondering how the two compare. I really like the sound of the MS-1s but I hear that the SR-60's are lacking a bit in the bass department (and that the iGrado's use the SR-60 drivers?).

Also, as far as the KSC line, I couldn't find a price on the KSC-35's. They are better than the 75's, yes? How much can I get them for, and where? Also, how do the KSC cans compare to the iGrados?

There may have been some headphones that I missed so feel free to recommend something I didn't mention if you tink they're really great. I mostly listen to rock/rap/electronica so I like to have good bass. I'm not looking for IEM's as I'd like to hear what's going on around me.

Thanks!

I have a pair of SR60's and i LOVE them. They don't have the thump of some higher end phones, but they do have a bit of authority in the low end IMO.

However, they do not make a good portable phone because of their open design. The iGrado's are also open.

The sennheiser px100 are also supposed to be a great heapdhone (especially for your ipod) but again, open backed.

If you want a good closed can, look at the beyerdynamic DT 231

The AKG's seem nice but they're a bit bulky for me. When I say portable I mean nothing bigger than the igrados. The beyers seem o-kay but I'd rather have something a bit smaller. As for the iGrados, do they leak as much as MS-1s?

Earbuds aren't out of the question either, if there are any good ones out there that don't cost a fortune.

The iGrados are a great choice for portable use. Comparing them to your MS-1s, they will sound darker with more bass. They are more aggressive than the MS-1s but have a slightly smaller soundstage. Unmodded, they don't leak as much noise, modded (which what many owners prefer), they have a similar amount of leakage. They aren't quite as detailed in the highs as the MS-1s, but make up for it in the lower ranges. They will also sound a little compressed vs. the MS-1. They still have great detail compared to the other portables I own. IMO, they are the best portable available.

Alright, just hypothetically, if I were to bump my budget up to say $150, what would my choices look like? The PK1s seem perfect but I believe they need an amp. Confirm/Deny?
