Looking for a place to get Sennheiser 600 metal grills for my Senn 580s

Are there any pictures of the 580's with the 600 grill? Or any pictures as to how the swapping procedure is?

Thanks.

I don't want to sound biased, but I've never thought the 580's looked cheap and horrible. Plastic they may be, but I think they look sweet, and have always thought that even before I actually bought them. However, I'd love to know if the grille changing alters the sound, and if it makes it exactly like the 600 sound.

Well this is the main difference, other than a better matched drivers, so it should sound very similar after, in fact they sound already pretty similar before.....

And how easy is it to swap the grills? Are the sizes compatible between the 580 and 600 grills?

Thanks.

Thanks for the picture and the info, guys.

Any word on the sound difference between the stock and 600 grill-i-fied 580's?

By the way, I ordered my HD600 grills about a month ago, and they estimated 4-6 weeks until the product would arrive. Apparently it was not in stock at the time. As of yesterday, they have not come yet.

Hopefully the fire in the UK doesn't affect the availability of this particular part.

Wow, that's a lot of time!
Who did you order from? Was it the CT place with the (860) 434-9190 phone number as suggested some posts above? Is that Sennheiser itself or someone who sells grills for their cans?

Thanks.

It was using the info from that previous post -- directly from senn US.

Why do I seriously doubt that replacing the grilles impact sound? I think some of you guys suffer from placeabo! I personally think that the plastic grille looks cooler. On a side note, if the 580s/600s use the same driver, why do the look so different? The 580 have a frequency response of 30,000 and the 600s have 39,000 so why do they sound the same?

I think I'll stick with the original HD580 grills. Even NeilPeart stated that there is very little if any sonic improvement by putting on HD600 grills if memory serves. Even a cosmetic improvement is debatable, besides I've heard that the 600 grills are easily dented in if your not careful. Bottom line is I frankly don't see any advantage of swapping grills, if there were believe me I would.

Probably because both headphones have a frequency range that is far beyond the human hearing range, in other words the HD580/600 are both much better than your ears will ever be.

I think I'll go ahead and do the swap when I get my 580's, just because I don't like the stock 580 grilles. And plus, 580's with the 600's grilles will make my e-penis MUCH bigger
